Book Blogger Q&A: Peace Love Books

The 62nd post in our Book Blogger Q&A series features Jessica from Peace Love Books.

Here are her her responses:

How long have you been a blogger?

I’ve been blogging since May but I’ve always been an avid reader. Right when school was about to end, I was messing around on the internet and came across book blogs and decided to start my own! It’s pretty much taken up my whole summer.

Approximately, how many books do you read every year?

I actually keep track 🙂 Last year I read 142 books. Since this year has been so much busier, I decided to set my Goodreads goal to 120 books. I’m already 13 books ahead!

Do you own a Kindle or a Nook (or another electronic book reader), and do you prefer it to reading a traditional book?

I just got a Nook Color about 2 months ago and I absolutely love it! I do prefer reading the hardcopy better, but having a Nook makes it so much easier to read ARCs from authors and it allows me to review more than I would without one.

What were your favourite books as a child?

In elementary school I loved reading the Madison Finn series by Laura Dower and The Amazing Days of Abbey Hayes by Anne Mazer. I was completely obsessed with these series and I would always buy the new one as soon as it came out.

What are you reading at the moment?

Right now I am almost done with a criminal love story called Brightwing by Sullivan Lee. She asked me to review it and I’m really enjoying it!

If you had to pick one, what’s the best book you’ve read in the last twelve months?

Hmmmm, I would have to say The Hunger Games. My friend told me about the series and let me borrow it from her. I read all three books within the week and fell in love with them!

Who are your three favourite authors?

This is so hard! But I would have to say Nicholas Sparks, Jennifer Echols, and Cassandra Clare. Their books are so amazing!

Which book has had the greatest impact on your life?

I actually just answered this question for the Follow Friday meme. My answer was A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks. You know why? Because it was the very first book that I’ve ever cried about because the story was so sad. Even though I had already seen the movie before I read it, I still cried because there was just so much emotion in the book! To this day I still only cry when I read a Nicholas Sparks book (or watch one of his movies).

Which books are you most eagerly anticipating?

I am really looking forward to this book called Juliet Immortal. It comes out later this August and it’s a twist on Romeo and Juliet. Instead of them being in love, Juliet is trapped with Romeo and she’s really in love with someone else. I think that it’s an awesome new take on Romeo and Juliet that hasn’t really been done before. I can’t wait to read it!

Which book character is most like you?

Oooh, I’ve never thought about that before. Thinking about it, I think I’m a bit like a younger, American version of Bridget Jones. I can be socially awkward and a bit crazy at times, but at the end of the day I have amazing friends and I’m perfectly okay with being exactly how I am.

If you had to invite some book characters round for dinner, who would you choose and why?

First I would definitely choose Jace Wayland from the Mortal Instruments. Why? Because I am completely in love with him!! He’s so awesome and I would love to learn more about Shadowhunters and how their lives are like. Then I would invite Fred Weasley (before his death, which completely devastated me) because he is so funny! Honestly, I love his personality and how he can make anyone laugh and come up with such cool toys for his shop. Then I would probably have to invite Gale from The Hunger Games. I was team Gale all throughout the books because he was always there for Katniss. They were such good friends and I would love to have a friend like him. Not to mention he’s pretty gorgeous 🙂 So yeah, I’d have dinner with my three guys that would keep me entertained for quite a while!

What advice would you give to new bloggers?

Make sure you blog as much as you can! The more you blog, the more people are likely to see something they like and comment/follow you. The memes are so much fun to do to and a great way to find followers and other blogs to follow. In My Mailbox and Follow My Book Blog Fridays are my favorites to do!

Which other book blogs do you recommend?

My favorite blogs to read are:
