Book Blogger Q&A: Book Harbinger

The 66th post in the Book Blogger Q&A series features Holly from Book Harbinger.

Here are the answers she gave to our questions about her reading habits and favourite books:

Book HarbingerHow long have you been a blogger?

For just over a year.

Approximately, how many books do you read every year?

Around 60 before I started blogging but if I’m able to keep up my pace this year I’ll probably reach 75.

Do you own a Kindle or a Nook (or another electronic book reader), and do you prefer it to reading a traditional book?

I got a Kindle last year for Christmas and I’ve enjoyed using it, especially to read egalleys, bargain ebooks or books unavailable in the US but I would prefer to read a traditional book almost every time.

What were your favourite books as a child?

Hatchet, Tuck Everlasting, A Wrinkle in Time, and the Sweet Valley Twins series.

If you had to pick one, what’s the best book you’ve read in the last twelve months?

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Who are your three favourite authors?

Juliet Marillier, Deanna Raybourn, and Ilona Andrews

Which book has had the greatest impact on your life?

I’ll have to go with the boring but very true answer: The Book of Mormon, followed by the Bible. If we’re talking strictly fiction, I would say anything by Jane Austen.

Which books are you most eagerly anticipating?

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins and The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater.

Which book character is most like you?

Well, according to the Jane Austen heroine quiz, I would be Jane Bennett. But honestly I don’t know if anyone else does this but I’m always comparing myself to many of the characters in the books I’m reading and I always come up as a good but ultimately boring.

If you had to invite some book characters round for dinner, who would you choose and why?

I would love to have Finbar from Juliet Marillier’s Sevenwaters series over for dinner. He’s part-man, part-swan, part-shadow, completely dedicated to his family and just plain cool.

What advice would you give to new bloggers?

Blog because you love it and you want to discover other blogs. Sharing your love of reading and developing relationships with other bloggers are going to be the most rewarding things you can do.

Which other book blogs do you recommend?

Angieville, Chachic’s Book Nook, See Michelle Read, and Inkcrush.

Thanks to Holly for contributing to the Book Blogger Q&A series.

Very nice interview! I think I feel the same way about comparing myself with characters in books. I don’t think that you’re boring though. :)

Yes to Daughter of Smoke and Bone! :) It looks like I need to read Deanna Raybourn soon, I haven’t picked up any of her books. Finbar is an interesting character to invite for dinner, I bet he’d have a lot of interesting things to say.

    Thanks for the mention. :D

Ooh. Excellent choice with Finbar. I love him. Mostly I’d just want to sit in his company and stare into his gray eyes and feel peaceful.

Your 3 favorite authors fill me with happiness.
